Our Institute
The Training and Research Institute for Systemic Psychotherapy, founded in 2011, is directed by Athena Androutsopoulou, PhD, Tsabika Bafiti, PhD, and George Kalarritis, MMedSci, clinical psychologists and systemic psychotherapists.
The Institute is an EFTA-TIC member (European Family Therapy Association- Training Chamber) and an EAPTI (European Accredited Training Institute certified by EAP (European Association for Psychotherapy).
The institute’s main activity is the training of mental health professionals in psychotherapy, a four-year clinical program, designed to meet the criteria of the European Family Therapy Association (EFTA), the European Association for Psychotherapy (EAP), and the Hellenic Association for Systemic Therapy (HELASYTH). The co-founders and directors of the program are members of EFTA –CIM and HELASYTH and hold the European Certificate in Psychotherapy by EAP.
The institute also offers a training program in systemic diagnosis addressed to psychologists who are interested in adopting a relational perspective to the use of well-known psychometric and projective tests. It now also offers a training program in couples therapy designed for mental health professionals who wish to further expand their original training, and a training program in assessing and treating children. The Institute further organizes a variety of specialized seminars and short courses for mental health professionals and mental health students. It also organizes seminars for the public, and has a counseling service linked to its clinical training program.
Another important activity of the Institute is research and its interest in promoting knowledge concerning issues of mental health and psychotherapy.
Our Institute was founded with the prospect of offering a ‘secure base’ for personal and professional growth for all trainees. By taking a personal interest in each and every one of them we hope to stand to this aim.
